In Calgary, this week we are at 15 weeks before average last frost of May 25. We are at 9.5 hours of daylight, not enough for the greenhouse

I received a pack of Orbit geranium/pelargonium seeds at a seed exchange last Saturday. I think I will sow those this week (they are old seed, but still may be viable). I need to go through my seeds & pull out the ones that are recommended for 12 to 14 weeks before last frost. I usually start some tomatoes & petunias late Feb and move them into the greenhouse in early March. Actually I like to start plants a few weeks earlier than recommended since I have the greenhouse and the the plants are bigger at the end of May

I think it is about 10 weeks for me. Wow, quantifying it in weeks makes it seem not that bad!

I'm only doing winter sowing. No greenhouse, no light set up. It's my first year so I am excited to see how it turns out. I sowed way too much but looking foward to the challenge.

That does help a lot Joanne! The winter does not seem as long! I started tomatoes on Sunday, and will start some more annuals this next week. I am with you, bigger plants are better in our all to short season!

It's about 12 weeks for me. I usually don't plant out frost tender things until May. We might begin to see sporadic warm days as soon as March, 4 to 6 weeks from now. I can begin then to give plants "field trips" to my porch or deck for a shot of filtered sun or a drink of spring rain.

Cold nights and frost are common way after that, though.

Sigh. 14 to 15 weeks for me, depending on what the weather does this year. Normally it would be 16 weeks at this point, but if it's like last year (hope hope!!!) 14 weeks, just about the end of May. I'll be able to start hardening off some of the more cold hardy things sooner this year, tho, because I have a new, better sheltered area to set them.

>> end of May

Yuck! For me, average-last-frost date is early-mid April, even though parts of this week have felt like mid-spring.

In KY I think the date is April 16th. I have a lot of preparing to do, it is getting here quickly. We have had some fairly warm days. It was near 60 the last 2 days but a cold front is coming in Angry

About 9 weeks yet for me.

I'll be starting some veggie seeds indoors soon.

Yay! The fun part of the busy season is almost here! This year it'll be even more enjoyable; I set aside a pile of gravel to use as a walkway to the springhouse. Hopefully, it'll keep me from slipping and sliding through the mud and the muck every time I go out there. Smiling

We are 12 weeks now. I hope to start up the greenhouse this weekend and move some stuff out there so I can start petunias and tomatoes

We're about at the same time frame, Joanne. I started a few tomatoes, some basil and lobelia yesterday. Trying out the vermiculite for the first time, too. Smiling
