The drill bit makes a big difference. Ask at home depot for one that will drill through porcelain. DH also has bits for metal and other types of material.

Loved your new lamp inspiration for planters. They have a much lighter look to them compared to the terra cotta pots. Your rock planter (is that feather-rock?) looks great too. I like the round-rosette look of semps against the jagged look of the rock planter. I think I better drag out my old rock planter which I purchased in Santa Fe but never planted into. Greg, your inspiration becomes my project... Rolling my eyes.

Isn't that the way of things on here huh Bev! Clint has me thinking of semping up a headboard, because of what you posted yesterday! nodding I'm not sure if its feather rock, but it is really light, and it seems real, but it could be manufactured. The person at the plant store just wanted to get rid of it, so got it for 5 bucks, there is another spot to plant in it, and I'm probably going to plant a sedum Smiling

It does look like feather rock.
Here is a 350 lb. one in our front yard.

What a peaceful looking front yard!
Three hundered and fifty pounds??? There should be a maximum weight limit for what you can still call a big old rock, "feather rock"..
I think it should be no more than 99 lbs... Rolling my eyes. Anything beyond that is just downright HEAVY... Crying

If it hadn't been a feather rock, it would have weighed more than that. We backed the truck up and used heavy boards to slide in into place, using gravity. You want to wear heavy gloves when handling them. It is volcanic glass.
My mother bought if for me. I love that rock. Lovey dubby
Part of it is buried.

nope not sure, feels like sandstone but lightweight, and the holes are drilled in it so it wasn't "made" I tip my hat to you.

It is a cement retaining wall along the front of the property. When we bought the place I was so thrilled to have a wall to plant in, and how clever it was of the person that built the house. Then we found out 10 years later why he built the wall, for when it floods. Rolling my eyes.

Bev, we all win, because we each have a feather rock. Big Grin
