Greg, I'm only about 45 mins from Cardiff, 40 if I drive not Mark :wink: Unfortunately I don't see anyone growing Semps locally. I think my Grandmother might have a pot left in the garden somewhere, I'll be investigaing next time I call.

I'm a bit disappointed that the postman didn't bring my seeds this morning, but I have thought a bit more about planting - I want an old tin bath for them! Now I've just got to track one down. There arn't any currently on Ebay that are close enough

Life can be made difficult or easy . Those little ice cream cups with lids of clear plastic and other made to order fast food plastic dishes. Maybe be a hot wire or nail to poke holes through them. Lynn or some one else will be along with even better ideas.

I was thinking more about it, and yes I think you should start the seeds indoors, since your outdoor weather is probably still too cold for them to begin to germinate...I'm sure that's what you were planning, just confirming your idea!

That would get them to germinate much quicker.

Either they love the deepfreezer or they love the oven .

Arif, its true they love the cold but the seeds don't need that cold to germinate, and I noticed that most of them germinate (around here) in late summer right after the flowering, leading me to presume that they like the warmth to germinate

Maybe that is why I requested Lynn to make the rule book once and for all one day it is the freezer the next the oven then it might shift to cactus soil or gritty soil. Lynn says they wont do in 90F and above and you come up with they can do in 100F while I am going to grow them in 45c . I suppose as long as a person uses his common sense these things can survive where they should not. Common sense is the ruling word. I suppose every one has to learn by killing a few.
