If I find it, you're welcome to it. I decided to stick with relatively easy plan tgs for a few more years, no matter how pretty others may be.

I found one vendor who would import bulbs from Sakata ... minimum order 4 box es = 16 trays! There are almost enough people "WANT"ing it in the DG plant list to place aqn order, if eacxh person wnated a whole tray!

Funny thing about lisianthus seeds. I had a plant with blooms expire in my GH a couple of years ago and it sort of just sat there over the summer (in that super heated GH; I close it up in the summer and let it get really hot to sort of disinfect everything--hot enough to melt a plastic clock I'd left in there!) and the following winter. The next spring, I was cleaning up and saw what looked like seeds. So I sprinkled them over some potting soil, and lo! I got several plants from those poor neglected seeds!
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.

Linda, Burpee has a "blue" rimmed one that really looks purple and it's plants, not seeds, but when I got mine from them last year they were very nice plants. They're like 12 plants for $30. For me it was worth it because I sell bouquet at farmers market. I can't remember where you are located but I have had lisianthus winter over here in GA and I think I remember readings somewhere of someone who overwintered in zone 7. I do give them some protection, but not much. Hopefully they will live through this cold snap but here's the link to the Burpee page

Thank you so much for that link, Arlene. I may end up ordering those plants as a back-up, as that is exactly the variety I was looking for. I finally did locate a source for seeds yesterday, although the seller indicated they were older seeds (but she had tested germination). Unfortunately, lisianthus are not hardy in our zone (central IN). If I start seeds in January, we get blooms in July or August.

You are welcome! I tried for several years before I was successful at starting lisianthus from seed, but they do take FOREVER! I got the plants because I lost many of my seedlings and because I knew I may be able to over-winter. As it turns out, my row cover keeps blowing off so I don't know if they will make it. They have a thick layer of straw and they look to still be alive at the base. If they do survive I will try and get seeds this year, and from my new ones too. Since there are so many seeds I will gladly share if I am able to harvest any.

When I am dealing with small seeds. I mix them with sand and put them in a salt shaker and shake away.

Love that idea, Erik! I will definitely want to give this a try.
