Miniature Dwarf Bearded.....MDB......up to 8 inches tall. The earliest bloomers. Standard Dwarf Bearded...SDB...8-16 inches...they .bloom next. Intermediate Bearded....IB....16-27 1/2 inches...bloom next. Miniature Tall Bearded...MTB.....16 - 27 1/2 inches. Bordered Bearded....BB....16-27 1/2 inches. Bloom with the TBs. There is getting to be some confusion between some of the IBs, MTBs, and BBs as they are, because of breeding, becoming very similar. TBs over 27 1/2 inches. TBs bloom last. Almost all bearded iris currently being introduced are tetraploids except some of the MTB's are diploids.

John has had several types of MDBs, pure I. pumila species, small 40c the sme chromosome count as the SDBs, & a smaller SDB X species I. aphylla cross which produced one MDB "Quogue'Thumb of 2013-02-16/irisarian/616be2

Because of the later blooming species involved, 'Quogue' blooms with the SDBs.
