I got a 7. Big Grin

My cats don't want a dog, Cindi. Smiling Besides, I think a dog would cause more trouble in the garden than the gophers do. I wish I had lots of garden snakes. They could eat the gophers and amuse the cats.

I had more garden snakes in one area than I could count the year I covered a compost pile with black plastic and forgot to remove it. The only bad thing was, I couldn't use the compost until the snakes moved out. Whistling

Around here the dogs definitely do more damage than the gophers - often in their attempts to dig out the gophers!

Oh Zuzu, be careful what you wish for!!!!!! Blinking
We have snakes in the pond, in the trees, in flower beds, under rocks, in the birdhouses, everywhere! My dogs are good at pointing at them. Both have been bitten at times, so they don't mess with them, but let me know when they see one. We have lizards and skinks, too, but they are the good guys. The skinks are so tame they will crawl over my feet when I'm sitting on the deck.
The dogs have learned to leave them alone because I talk sweetly when i see one. When I see a rabbit, i use a harsh tone and say "go get it" and off they go! Of course the rabbits feast all night when the dogs are inside. For a couple of months this spring, I saw no rabbits. We had a pack of coyotes in the yard every night and I think they even caught some of my neighbor's cats. Crying
Yesterday the wind stopped blowing. What an eerie feeling! I've been wishing for the wind to stop so I can use some Roundup on bindweed, so I jumped at the opportunity. Now I'm glad for the wind to be back--the mosquitoes and flies and everything else are a horrible nuisance when the wind is calm! Shrug!
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.

We used to have quite a number of rat snakes. They kept the rats out of the barn; they probably ate a few gophers. They also stole eggs from my chickens' nest boxes. I put some ceramic eggs in a couple of new nest boxes to get my chickens to accept them. These decoys gradually disappeared, so I may have inadvertently killed a few rat snakes.

OK I took the color test, and my "for real " score is 27 - and I consider myself good with color!!! Ouch! Humbling! In my defense I'm tired and so I know I have to keep trying this one!!! Thanks for posting this, I've heard people talk about it, but it sounded more boring than what it was! I tip my hat to you.

Did you take the next step and compare your score to the scores of other men your age? I did that and was annoyed to learn that other women my age scored zero. Crying

I scored 7, but I might try again for a zero score. I found it intensely boring and stopped paying close attention on the last two rows because I just wanted it to be over. Hilarious!

Was it the third row that had gradations of three colors instead of two? I think that was the one that threw me because it went "against the rules."

I was going to say something about the test boring me because I hate spending so much time on relatively useless tasks, but I've spent the last couple of hours reading snarky recaps of episodes of "Toddlers & Tiaras," so I'll just shut up. Hilarious!

To be fair, there are lots of men who are very good with color. Most that I know are gay, but not all. I have worked with lots of architects, that may be why my experience is different. Grumpypants (the xbf, current bff who is still trying to talk me out of moving - he helped me move in, so he knows what a job it will be - poor man is in denial or shock) is a very good judge on colors for me. He even tolerates my search for the perfect pink nail polish, etc. I like men who are either very good with color, or who defer to my expertise.

I HATE bad color photos of plants in catalogs. Photos of "blue" and dark roses are the worst culprits! I check out real garden photos on sites like this to see the real deal. You can calibrate your monitor if you are extra picky or work with color cards often.

Now that I have a two car garage for storage and projects - since I don't drive yet. I am going to be able to finally refinish some furniture, set up my metalworking bench (I did mostly jewelry and buttons, but I think I will try some garden stuff) and recover a fabulous (to me, anyway) mid century reclining chair that has seen better days. I have taupe ultrasuede for it.

For paint, I go by the color card and return it if it doesn't match. I am looking for a great cobalt blue paint to paint my icky bamboo poles. I saw a great pic on about, com container gardening. I want one that has some luminescence to it - I

Andi - that's why I thought I'd zoom through that color thingy (being a gay man - I was sure to pass!!) haha but I guess my eyes are still a man's! Hilarious! Thumbs up I haven't retaken the test yet, but I will! I tip my hat to you.

Yes, you should retake it and check your result against the results of other men your age. For all you know, they might be up in the 90s. Hilarious!

My father was quite red/green color blind - that's my excuse...

I do plan to retake the test, though, just to see whether I get a different result.
