Way to much rain in the last couple of weeks has left my garden a swamp.
Has not been fun to mow the swamp of a lawn the last few weeks.

I was excited when I saw the sky blue buds on my Nidularium procerum cv stripes.

Not a single flower actually opened as the buds just turned brown.

Interesting Scott, maybe too little sun, or too much rain, the blue is pretty. Grass soppy mess Crying
I've been shaking BTI granules in my bromeliads, to keep the mosquito eggs from hatching, however some of these rains are so heavy they just wash them all back out. Yesterday we had a bit of hail in a late afternoon storm. We could use a day of sun, looks like towards the end of the week we should have a couple anyway.

I haven't bought a bromeliad in a long time, but this one was interesting at Lowe's last week, tagged Bromeliad, so a NOID. The leaves are stiff and smooth with no spines, but the bracts of the Inflorescence are sharp. The mature plant is about 12 inches wide, 10 inches tall. I can't figure out what it is, lots of offsets on it, so pretty prolific, something like a little pineapple...Any Ideas???

Sherri, Looks like one of those in the Ananas comosus group. Will produce a small pineapple.

Thanks Scott, I think you're right, it is now starting to get a green top like pineapples do. Thumbs up

Like everyone else, all the rain has been washing the BT granules out of the broms and have a Neo Tequila that holds a good bit of water, far more than any of the others, it is like a bowl. It is in the ground so I can't tip it over. Hoping the daily rain rinses help keep it skeeter free.

Sherri, Here is a look at a few my Ananas comosus var erectifolius.
The following pictorial show the maturing of the rooted tops over time.
Tops removed and rooted in late Summer 2018 now in fruiting stage.
This one is growing in dappled sun with mostly shade conditions.

These three are Summer 2019 rooted tops growing in very late afternoon sun.
I am hoping the red coloration holds. 🤞

The red coloring is nice, I should have realized my new NOID was some kind of Ananas comosus, it is certainly much smaller than my other dwarf pineapple plants, now the top of the fruit is getting the green leaves, it is no taller than my water can. Might make a neat potted planter.

I never would have suspected that was an aechmea, it is looking more like a succulent. Wow.

Looking great Gina! I tip my hat to you.
I remember you posting a photo some time ago. I have kept my eyes open for one to no avail.
I find A. 'Stalker' very interesting that it was a mutation found in tissue culture propagation. The really strange part is that it was from the spineless A. Fasciata.

When I got it (it was $35 from Tropiflora) it was a tiny rootless pup maybe 3 inches long. Its taken a while for it to get this size. Like maybe over a year? Its one of the coolest broms I have. I am not sure how big it will actually get.

The A. Stalker is really cool, I agree would never know it was a bromeliad. Thumbs up

I have had 20 inches of rain here in central Missouri since the first of June. I have been putting mosquito granules in broms but think it has been a failure. LOL. My neighbor was in my yard and wondered what was wrong with my A. Blanchetiana since it was so yellow.

Sammy, you must have a greenhouse, keeping a Blanchetiana of that size in MO is quite a feat.

Good growing on that Vriesia Scott, it seems happy.

@eber1140 That is a beautiful Aechmea Blanchetiana and very nice coloring, do you keep it in a greenhouse in the winter? I've been sprinkling the mosquito bits but the rains are so heavy they wash them right back out, but all my friends and family that don't have bromeliads say this is the worst they've ever had mosquitoes. Crying

@ScotTi nice bloom, I have two nice fully grown offsets from a couple years ago, I think mine bloomed the same time yours did, I keep checking them, but don't see anything yet. Sun did shine good the last few days, so maybe that will encourage them.
