The leaves really do look quite thick for a heuffelii. I've never had mine bloat up like that. Maybe it just needs a little sunshine. Smiling

OK you all have me worried now, I may have to put off my other chores to go see if I should bring this little guy inside and to the surgery sooner than expected...hmmm, or at least do the "tweezer" action! I tip my hat to you.

Hello yall,I'm back and yes i took my feeling better as a sign that i could or needed to walk out to my rock garden (I've set predicted finish date is about 2015-2016) Whistling I'm working on it Thumbs up We have went a long time without any sunshine and a lot of rain,I heard (i was falling asleep when i heard it) that we have had almost 15 inches of rain since Dec. Without the sunshine it causes a lot of problem for succulents just listening to all the talk of surgeries being scheduled, this has been a rough winter for most of our plants.I kind of work like a succulent,i need sunshine, people make vitamin D when they are in the sun & it has a huge role in keeping our muscle healthy. Crying

Greg, when your able to share i'm always willing to trade if i happen to have anything you may want.I may have to wait and trade some until my new plants are settled, jade rose has a lot of babies. Whistling

I did walk out to my bed the other day that i was feeling better & the sun came out Hurray! I noticed one of the semp 'mahogany' didn't look so well it's leaves were turning yellow & getting mushy and i did what Greg called the "tweezer" action, that day i could actually hold tweezers (mine have a bulky handle for easy holding).I figured since i felt better i would check out how things were draining and make sure my new moma & babies were doing ok in their new home.Ended up moving around some rock & adding some pea gravel. Whistling You can guess what happened the hubby caught me and well. Crying Sad

Today it looked better we have had maybe 3 sunny days this past week & it must have helped. My semp is showing a little leg,but the rosette is looking great in the middle.

Will more leave grow back on the bottom where it lost them up the stalk?

Hi Jojoe, glad you used the tweezer action! Rolling on the floor laughing Your question about growing new leaves along the bottom is a good one, I don't think so, but often the chicks fill in so you can't see that part of the plant. I have noticed that my plants don't seem to mind being lifted and worked on and then replaced, but that may be because they're still so little??
Cheers I tip my hat to you.

Jojoe, semps grow new leaves from the center so I am always careful when I do anything with my semps to make sure I don't damage the center of the head.

G reg, I would like to think they just understand it has to be done, the plant i have had to work on didn't complain much either!!Staying away from the center gotcha.

It's 2:40 am here so I'm going to bed before i get caught. Rolling on the floor laughing

Good night,happy gardening!!! Thumbs up

The thing I'm a little worried about when the snow melts is that we had three big freezing rain events over the winter and I'm so hoping my plants didn't end up sitting in freezing/frozen water and then get covered with snow. I know I did lose a few in containers that were frozen and couldn't drain. They turned to mush then the rabbits chewed the centers out. Grumbling Grumbling

I'm not much of a TV watcher but I can always find something to do. I've been off work for 3 weeks now due to knee surgery and I am actually getting kind of bored because I can't go outside and play. But I wanted it to be all healed up before gardening season arrived.
