Bev, I ived in San Jose almost all my life, with a one year stint in a small town north of Vancouver, B.C. in 1982. You are just south of me right Bev? I can't remember if you ever said were you are.

Rock purslane as some buds seems heavy but starting to stand up as it prepares to bloom:

That Rock purslane is one of my favorite plants. I have it planted in 2 spots, always gets totally frosted back to the ground. It's starting to grow now, the one in a more half sun spot a bit behind. Do you have yours in the ground? I used to have one in a pot and it never looked happy until it got planted and was able to really spread.

Hi Sue, yup it is in a container. Used to be with another succulent, which got unruly, so now in another container where it has more horizontal spread. I like this plant a lot too, especially when the blooms are out. I think it favors its present location now, gets some early morning sun and then some direct sun afternoons then shade. It is giving me more bloom stalks than before.

I was thankful you were able to ID it before..just used to call it my noid vining succulent with the way it curls every which way.

This is where one is planted now, it's growing at the base of a favorite deep orange rose, a great color combo! I love it when it's filled with tons of blooms all waving in the breeze.

That is very nice! So it is really an escape artist succulent huh? Ah but as you said the blooms makes up for it..and they do wave At first I thought the growth of my blooms were etiolating because of that very long bloom stalk, so it is just the way it goes.

What's so nice is the blue green foliage, I want to put one in front of something yellow foliage based.

Yellow foliage...hmmm..maybe a euphorbia in bloom..though more it is yellowish green.

It has to be tall enough so it won't be overwhelmed by the purslane. I saw a beautiful cistus at the nursery today with variegated foliage, golden yellow leaves. Something like this http://www.smgrowers.com/produ...
