Thanks for the comments!

I have made a couple of crosses, already this season. It seems that Portofino is very pod fertile, and i plan on taking advantage of this since Portofino has some excellent traits.

I normally wouldn't take a banded daylily to a self, but with Portofino and Lady Duck i am willing to take a chance.

Still blooming PORTOFINO and one of the seed pods comes from one of my favorites Lady Duck (frozen pollen), also with heavy substance.

I just noticed it this year on the weather channel. 2 of my daughters flew into Denver for a ski trip. They landed safely. I guess they are used to lots of snow there Sad Myself I want warm weather lol. A nice trip to FL sounds great to me!

They just started naming them this year. Only the Weather Channel is doing it and I think I remember reading that NOAA or the hurricane prediction centers asked them not to.

I'm seeing growth on a lot of things out in the garden. Desperately waiting to see if I can find INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE should it start growing. I planted it last year but forgot to put a tag in the ground. It was right in an area where the dog tore things up so I am not sure that it survived.

My new leaves are coming up like little accordians. I always thought that was spring sickness, but looked up spring sickness and they look nothing alike. Could it be too much insecticide/disease control?

We got a call and email today from Browns Ferry Daylily Garden (Charles & Heidi Douglas in S. Carolina) telling us that they had backed up their shipping date to after April 22 because of the cold weather that they have been having. They want to give the daylilies a chance to grow and get big before shipping. It has been cold here, too. The temperatures are warming up some toward the end of this week. Maybe spring is not far away.

We are expecting shipments tomorrow from Spunky, Floyd Cove, James Hall, and Nicole Devito. I expect our daylilies from the Trimmers, Dan Hansen, and Gaskins to possibly come this week, too, and more starting next week and throughout April.

We got 5 shipments of daylilies today. It is like Christmas! I did not have time to take pictures but will try to tomorrow and post them. I enjoy taking the wrappings off each daylily and inspecting each one. Several arrived with scapes intact, and some had scapes that had been cut for packaging. We are just in awe at the wonderful daylilies, both ordered and gifts, that we have received.

From Spunky: (Large fans with great roots!)
Emma's Curls DF
Lillian's Alabama Sunrise TF (Already have this but wanted more, such a pretty bloom. Fred has shown us some beautiful seedlings coming from LAS.)
Lillian's Deceitful Lies DF (Gift)
Lillian's Frilly Filly DF (Gift)
Lillian's Fire And Flame DF (Gift)
Fred donated the following intros for our Region 5 Spring Meeting June 2014 and 2015 National:
Lillian's Vapor Trails
Lillian's White Lies
Lillian's Mandarin Marmalade
Fred is very generous. We look forward to showing off his intros to Region 5 next year!

From James Hall (Lily Auction wins):
Dancing Dreams Large SF
Jurassic Fiesta Large DF (won SF)
Buddy's Black Lady SF (Gift)

From Nicole Devito (Lily Auction wins): (All large fans and great roots!)
Hooked Huge SF dividing into maybe 3 fans
Mexican Elvis 7F clump
Ephren Thomas TF
I'm A Masterpiece SF (Gift)
For Lois 4F (Gift)
I'm A Bigtimer DF (Gift)
Nicole will be donating to our 2014 Region 5 Meeting Auction, too. We went to the 2012 Florida Mecca and helped Nicole deadhead her garden for the tour. What gorgeous daylilies she grows with such good branching and bud counts. She is so generous and such a sweet young lady.

From Floyd Cove: (All large fans and great roots!)
Red Bull Large DF
Watermelon Red Huge DF (with scape)
Little Alabama TF
Little Dunkin TF
Blushing Octopus DF
Cosmic Kaleidoscope DF
Exotic Pattern DF
Rose F. Kennedy DF
Texas Kaleidoscope DF
Super Fancy Face DF (with scape)
Time Stopper DF
Ocean Rainbow DF (Gift) (with 2 scapes)
Little Wild Thing DF (Gift)
Mystic Image DF (The Pierces sent their donation for our 2014 Region 5 Meeting Auction. We can grow it for a year and hopefully multiply it.)

From Dan Hansen/Lady Bug Daylilies: (Dan was offering a special on Ned Robert's daylilies. I want to create a bed of only Ned's intros at some time in the near future. We already have quite a few but now have enough to consider it a "collection", I think.)

Dan is very generous with fans as you can see, and he will also be donating daylilies for our 2014 Region 5 Spring Meeting auction.

All roots are soaking in water and SuperThrive. I will plant Friday and/or pot up for planting soon. After tomorrow night we do not have freezing temperatures in the forecast for the next 7 days. Maybe spring is near in NW GA.

WOW! What a huge haul! That's so fantastic, but I certainly don't envy you the planting task. And I do hope you will share bloom pictures with us when they start blooming. I'm getting soooooo excited about spring actually starting to happen now!

Thanks, Betty. Yes, it is quite a long list, especially considering there are still more to come. Several of these we already have and they will be planted together. The reds already have spots prepared in our new red, white, and blue bed. The gift plants for the 2014 Region meeting will go in an area already designated for gift plants. I do not have the area ready for the Ned Roberts' intros, so they will have to go in pots for now. Today and tomorrrow I hope to get daylilies moved out of a large bed and till in soil amendments. Some daylilies will be replanted, and some will be moved to another area until they can be moved out of here. The weather has not been conductive to getting this kind of work done this month as I had planned.

I have two blooms that are good enough to take pictures of now, although they're certainly not great. But I think they're fantastic, because finally the blooms are starting! These both bloomed yesterday.
