But the circles formed by the edging are a totally different shape from the leaves, so the edging doesn't really get lost in the foliage. It just superimposes a whole new design on the mat, something I'm not accustomed to seeing flowers do. Anyway, it looks terrific!

I couldn't agree more about chives. They really are a wonderful addition to a perennial garden - and would make a nice companion for roses.
