These pics were taken last May, I never have found a name for the plant. Growing in semi shade, small plant.

The leaves kind of remind me of clover, but I've never been able to match it?

Could it be Trifolium montanum L. I googled Trifolium and I found a picture of it and it looks very similar to your photos. It native to the Alps and mountain regions in Europe and West part of Asia.

I'm pretty sure it's a native wildflower.

The pic from the usda.gov website looks more like mine that any other pics of Trifolium arvense.

I wasn't sure because most of the pics show the flowers look longer.

My first thought was maybe Trifolium alexandrinum: http://www.biolib.cz/en/image/... but I'm not sure that one grows in Texas.

I've looked at all of the above and think it must be Rabbit Foot Clover (Trifolium arvense). I realize plants in the wild can sometimes be variable in their growth.

After review, I feel confident this is my plant so I will add it to the database.

That's what I was thinking, too; different growing conditions, different rainfall amounts ...and might it be possible that your wildflower blooms elongated after you took those shots?

Yes, that is very possible. It's an annual so I'll have to see if it comes back this year and then keep a better eye on it.
