Ethylene gas in Apples and Bulbs Don't Mix

Don't put bulbs in the refrigerator with apples. The apples produce ethylene gas, which will cause the bulb to abort its flower.

Great point, but you can also use this to your advantage. Have a bunch of bananas that are underripe? Put them in a paper bag with an apple or two, and they'll ripen up much faster, due to the same ethylene gas
