Rita,
I understand. It's easy to get excited when it's not time to actually do it. Today I had to plant just a few replacement seeds and I dreaded doing it. I get one big rush of planting and then I'm done. But tomatoes are easy to start from seed and you still have time! Just do one or two even, like when we were kids, in a paper cup. Then NEXT year you may do more. And you'll already have the seeds!

Here's a link to our FB page, I can't seem to find the picture I wanted to post but it's on here. Hope you can access it...

Thanks. I do have plenty of time as the tomatoes can't go out until beginning of May. So we will see if I get myself together or not.

VERY NICE!!! Great Market Garden.

Rita, I hope you try seeding some tomatoes this year. They seem to taste better when you watch them grow.

Sounds like some good varieties! Hurray!

When we had any tomatoes left over from market we just threw them all together in one big pot. Some of the BEST tomato sauce I've ever made!

Here's my miniature tomato patch (last June) - I limit myself to 5 indeterminate nibblers, let them wind up the stakes, and just snack on them. This little patch of dirt gets south sun, and has the surrounding rocks/concrete for extra warmth. It's about the only place I can actually get tomatoes to ripen, I'm pretty far north. It's also right next to the back door stoop so the plants get lots of attention. I usually plant marigold at their feet for some added color.

My favorite last year was Sweet Baby Girl.

I only grow a few varieties each season, but I do like to try different ones each year. Last year I went with...

Sungold
Jolly Elf
Snow White
Ultra Sweet

The Snow White (an open pollinated pale yellow cherry tomato) knocked my socks off. One of the tastiest tomatoes of any size or color that I've ever tried. Really don't know what I may try this season yet.

The Snow White is as pale of a yellow as you can get...

wish I had more pictures of it, but this is the only one I ever took of that plant.

The Jolly Elf is a determinate grape tomato. The only reason I tried it was to see if it's growth was all that much tamer than any other indeterminate grape variety. (It was...hit 4 ft, stopped growing, made a ton o' tomatoes) It it sold as crack resistant, but I found it was the first to crack after a heavy rain, even before the Sungold, which I've always considered a soft tomato. Taste was good though, and it produced a LOT of tomatoes.
