Hello For some reason it is not allowing me to add the Mule palm into the database. Is there a certain way to add hybrids in? As it is not recognizing the Genus of this plant.

Erik I think there is a bit of problem with this entry; the X and the B should have a space. Let me ask the moderator to look into this.

There are actually two entries for this palm in the database.

× Butyagrus nabonnandii in my opinion is the correct one (from ThePlantList)

These genera that start with "X " are a bit of an anomoly and can make the database behave strangely in certain circumstances.

Thanks, Hetty, for pointing out the plant. Is that what you're looking for, Erik?

Not sure how to reply to the message sent to me about adding the Butia Odorata to the database. This palm was classified as Butia Capitata and in 2004 reclassified as Butia Odorata. http://www.palms.org/palmsjour...

Here is B. capitata:

Pindo Palm (Butia capitata)

The name can be edited to reflect the updated classification.

Great link Erik, Thanks. If I understand the article correctly Cocos odorata is now correctly Butia odorata. In addition Butia capitata replaced Cocos capitata as the accepted name. These are confirmed by the Catalog of Life which references the Kew World Checklist of Selected Plant Families.

Butia odorata: http://apps.kew.org/wcsp/synon...

I just created an entry for B. odorata. Pindo Palm (Butia odorata)

Thanks, Evan. I couldn't find the name on GRIN, ITIS, or The Plant List, so I assumed it was not an accepted name and declined Erik's new plant proposal.
