Well I picked up a bunch of boxes today thanks to Tabby. They are bigger than I first thought but I think

they will work for me. One is smaller than the others.

Now to get ready to paint and scarify them... Oh I may get some colored sand and try using glue to adhere it, Clint suggested that I think.

You could really get creative with these. You could use a nail to etch into them. Don't forget to post photos!

The reason I opened this as a new thread was so I could do a step by step. May take me while but I will

be working on it... sooon .

I was also thinking of using one of those garden rakes.

Maybe some chains and a few chops with a knife. Whistling Whistling

I used construction adhesive for outdoor use. I think it was Titebond professional.

Do you leave it outside in the weather? I don't have room inside for these things.

I kept it inside until it dried. Just keep it dry until it sets. This comes in big tubes. You use one of those caulk guns with it. It's cheap too.

We have made these a couple of times. Last summer Ric and I each made one. I will get you some pictures when I can. I plan on making a few more next summer. Both of ours are a bit different.

Oh, I may have misunderstood what you are doing. The ones I made were done with Hypertufa formed over Styrofoam containers that were used as a form and then removed. I realized that you may be doing the type that you cover the Styrofoam with a thin coating and the containers stay as part of the entire pot.

I have been told, I can just rough them up, use house paint and plant them (putting holes in bottom of course)

Others have embellished theirs with pebbles and other textural add ons.

The ones Tabby had were very rustic looking and very much like stone.

She has had them in the locations in her garden for years..

I have never thought about using them as forms for hypertufa but you may have had experience with that.

I think you could also just smear some concrete on them and leave it. You wouldn't have to use much either.

There are so many different treatments. I will post a few pics of mine when I can get around to taking a few pictures. I will be pretty busy the next few days and I don't think I have pics from last summer when we made them.
