I just prepared and planted a new lawn area on last Monday. It is going to take about three weeks for the grass seed to germinate but there are tons of green stuff poking up through the mulch. My guess is that they are the seedlings of this weed I took photos of. I would like to put some horrid weed and feed down to kill all of the sprouts. I know it's not a good thing to do, but nobody here has the time or inclination to pull the millions of sprouts out. Any thoughts on what stuff I should use?

By the looks of the leaves, with Paul2032, Flower? Color? Where you live? ...Oxalis or Sorrel grows from bulblets; to rid your grass of it with a new lawn, you are going to have to be persistent with removal making sure, when you pull it, you get the bulblets and all of the root system of each sprout. Also when you pull them, if they have seed pods, put them directly from the ground to a close in proximity plastic bag Be Gentile With Them dont let them touch the ground again or shake the abundance of seeds back to the ground, so keep the bag close to the plant when you up root it. This can run a few seasons, but you need to be on it and persistent or it can take over areas of your new grass. My second thought would be to forego a lawn this year and smother them with black poly plastic and a granular pre emergent herbicide to kill any remaining seeds...otherwise, happy

Weed and feed at this point would most likely kill the new grass you just planted. The grass needs to be well established to use it.

Is there a small pea sized bulb that is down in the soil about two inches and connected with a single tap root. This is why pulling them up does not work. You are leaving the bulb inside the ground. If you mow these flowers then a new bulb will grow everywhere the flower lands. Also the bulbs will have babies and they will be further down as far as 6 inches and will develope a clump of babies.
It took me forever to rid my yard of these at the old house. You must dig each one and make sure you go deep and get the whole bulb system.

I had a big scare last month when I followed a link from someone I did not know. Thankfully, I have an antivirus program. The computer went crazy then shut it self down then rebooted itself and all was fine. I count myself lucky because my program was able to take care of the virus. Nothing personal, but I have developed a fear of links!
