Charleen, I'm about 35 miles south of Atlanta, right of 85, so, howdy, neighbor! I was in zone 7 before (MD Eastern Shore) Mostly about a month earlier and later growing season here. AND I can winter over a lot more stuff here. LOVE IT!!! Well, that summer sun does get pretty hot down here though. Slowly I'm learning what works here and what doesn't.

When I first moved I brought most of my stuff and planted in the spring. I lost a lot! Found out FALL is best time to plant perennials down here...

Semps haven't skipped a beat though, of course, mostly what I have is hens and chicks. I have some Angelina Jennifer gave me, is that a semp?

So much to learn! No pics as of yet! Yes, with so much area it's easy to keep growing (the areas used.) problem is, I am the only one maintaining so I have to put it on hold this year until I get the mulching/ weeding controlled.

Hey, I thought Sempervivum Week was really fun. Though I didn't win any prizes in the raffle, I feel like I 've won a little each day on ATP with advice, support, chuckles, sharing and photos galore! Boy, that doesn' happen often in my everyday life. Thanks a lot everybody!
Same time, same place, same party, next year???? Rolling my eyes.

Thank you Connie. Love both of those plants, but know very little about them.

It's hard to find the list. It would be good to get it all in one place.

Chris, I always enjoy your lily photos! Right now I don't feel like I have any direction on how to approach lily week. Also no way to match semp week! That one will be very difficult to meet or top Big Grin .

For iris week I will write about germinating Japanese iris seeds indoors. Probably not interesting to most but it is something I have done off and on for about the last 15 years.

I agree
And Kevin Vaughn is a hybridizer of Japanese Iris. Wonder if any will be in bloom the end of April, during the clinic?

Japanese iris don't start until the end of tall bearded season around the end of June and into July. So no,I wouldn't expect them to be blooming unless forced in a greenhouse. Is his place easy to find in Salem? By that I mean not to many convolutions from the main roads Green Grin! .

Yes, it is easy to find. We can even put a sign out on the road by his driveway, so no one will miss it. Thumbs up

What directions would you be coming from Connie?
