Those are nice combinations, and I have seen them here too but I hate the way they glue the rocks down in the pots Thumbs down

I am just getting into succulents. I am experimenting making my own planters. I was surprised Home Depot has a pretty good selection. Having lots of fun.

Paul HD labels plants that I've seen, its Lowes that doesn't. Those succulents look great though! Rarely do they look that nice here! I tip my hat to you.
Jennifer, your planted blue pot is great! What a perfect way to use the design!!

Lowe's has started using Altman Plants from Vista Ca for their succulents. Every one of them had a label...and actually included a Botanic name and care info instead of "3 inch Succulent". And they were all in good condition.

Every single plant I got, and I got a lot of them, nodding was in excellent condition, many of them with buds.

One of the Pleiospilos nelii (split rock, mesemb) had two buds on it. We missed the first bloom (left the camera in DH's car) but will get a pic of the second one.

I think Lowes and HD are almost identical in their selection now, at least they are here. The pots even have the same, exact labels on them. I'm glad we have so many choices at such great pricing.

I have a question. Lowe's sells a bag mix for cactus, palm and citrus. My husband brought a couple bags home to pot up the new succulents i got. The info on the bag states that the mix is for "ground use" when planting, nothing about containers. So, can it be used in containers or is there something that would be detrimental to the potted plants?

Gosh, I didn't even read the bag! I hope its ok for containers. I used three bags of it. But for the second two bags I mixed sand and chicken grit with it.

That cactus/palm mix is awesome. I add more sand and perlite but it works for me.

I was all set to pot everything up Jennifer when I saw "for in-ground use" on the bag. Made me wonder if the bone meal and iron added would be too strong for smaller plants.

Its a really good question...I try and use regular potting soil and add perlite and chicken grit, but I don't actually grow cactus just succulents, and I think they're less fussy about the water drainage thing...I water very I tip my hat to you. sparingly (this year!) anyway
