ATP Podcast #9: Sempervivum Week

By dave
March 13, 2013

This week Dave and Trish give their usual reports: Dave's favorite idea, Trish's report from around the forums, and we discuss the lengthy winter we're having in Texas. Our main feature is a double feature: two special interviews with people in the Sempervivum world.

Thank you for another great podcast.
I did not know that about the leaves in correlation with the width of the ring in onions. Very interesting

I loved hearing goldfinch's voice for the very first time. She sounds just like I imagined she would. Friendly and helpful, and full of great gardening knowledge.

I was excited to hear about Young's Garden expanding. That means more plant varieties will be available to us gardeners. Thumbs up

This was my favorite podcast so far. Chris sounds as nice as I expected. I didn't know about the onion thing either. You learn something new every day!

Thanks Lynn and Clint. And thanks for the interview too Trish and Dave - it was a real pleasure talking with Trish! You really think I have an accent? Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

My cousins in Wisconsin were entirely and truly mystified to learn that the rest of the country thinks they have an accent. They were certain that it was just everyone else!!!

I love the Wisconsin way of talking. I lost my accent sometime during my childhood in Texas, I suppose.

I sure enjoyed this week's podcast! I'm jealous Trish, my calendulas are still tiny!

The interveiws were great!

I haven't peeked over at Young's Garden yet, but I sure will!

I did peek over at Goldfinch's Sempervivum Patch and WOW! Chris! You have so many cute things over there! I enjoyed the time I spent browsing your store and I'm not finished! Definitely have a planter and some semps picked out! Lovey dubby

I sure will Chris Big Grin I just tried to go to your store from your link, Chris, and it takes me to the main page on Cubits. I'm wondering how many semps should fit in one of your hand made Polymer clay pots?

Thanks for the heads up Christine - I'll fix it when I get home tonight. Thanks Dave!!

The number of semps that would fit in one pot really depends on the semp. They can range from 1/2" diameter to 9" diameter. Most are probably in the 2-3" range I'd guess. It also depends on the pot - maybe 3-5 would comfortably fit with room to grow.
