Twister is a patented cultivar "...a naturally-occurring branch mutation of the Aeschynanthus hybrida cultivar Rasta..."

This one was also labeled 'mona lisa' when i purchased it.Last summer a bird nested in it and i didn't have the heart to run it off until one day i didn't see it and the bird scared me so bad when it flew out of the plant as i took it off it's hanger,i ended up on my butt Hilarious! Hilarious! & dropped the plant. Sad It seems to be coming along nicely though,it's blooming now. Lovey dubby

So 'twister' is a cultivar,so what is 'mona lisa' considered or what's the correct terminology for it.I am not good with rather have never learned a lot about the terminology and their definitions.I learned some when i started collecting Hoya's but it was mostly the proper way to write the names. Unfortunately i have to write things down because of a short term memory problem caused by a brain lesion.

Thank you very much for the information and the lesson in the lipstick plants. Thumbs up I do love having & sharing my plants. Lovey dubby

I wish I could help you with this jojoe but I've never grown a Lipstick Plant. When I read your comment I did some research to see if the 'Rasta' and/or 'Twister' entries in our database needed correcting. Several forum sites had folks who believed they were the same plant, but a little digging brought up the patent/breeder information. There are some folks who seem to know they're way around Aeschynanthus so you might try posting your questions in the plant ID forum.

Thank you very much Evan,

I have noticed they can take different amounts of light, twister likes more water, the flowers are even smaller & a different color and a few other differences.I personally don't think they are the same plant but i'm no expert.Only know what i've observed.

Thank you for the information you did pass on to me!!! Thumbs up Have a lovely day!!
