I couldn't believe them when I first saw them on the shelf. They really look like little stone mortars. Very easy to drill the holes. I sprinkled one of my tiny ground cover sedum on top of the gravel. Hoping it will take hold and look like a blue/green lawn. Right now it is pink because of the cold.

Great idea, love that planter! I need to go to the dollar store more often, one year I found small litter boxes for 1.00 and used them for winter-sowing. They were easy to drill also. Thumbs up

Hurray! Hurray! Did I mention I had to go grocery shopping? Just got back. Big Grin
Did I mention that the Dollar Store is right next to the grocery store?
I figured for the sake of research I better stop in the Dollar Store first. Whistling
And in just a few minutes look what I found. They had a huge stash of the salsa mortar bowls. Hmmm, might have to go back again. What was I thinking by leaving behind all those bowls? Sad
I only brought home 8 more bowls for $4.00

On my way to the register I saw these. In a bunch of different colors. Plastic coated wire baskets, with handles. And the mesh is big enough to plant smaller plant all around the sides. Hurray! Line them with moss, fill with potting soil and plant. Punch through to plant in the sides. Hurray!

Good buy. I think the little baskets have real potential. Thumbs up Thumbs up

That add on room may need to be a plant/planter room. Hilarious! Hilarious!

I will plant every thing up this coming week. Plan on having a yard plant sale maybe in May.
Oh, I also got these at a yard sale.
$1.00 for the owl, 50ยข for the dog. Both are older ceramics. No to drill holes in the bottoms.
Thumb of 2013-03-17/valleylynn/694a42

Have to figure out what will look cute growing out of the log the owl is standing next to?

I was just at the Dollar Store a few days ago and I guess I didn't look far enough to find those salsa bowls. I did see the wire baskets though, but my imagination wasn't working that day. I need to go back and do some more shopping around. I did buy a larger haning pot, have no idea what I will plant in it after I drill some holes. Just have to get busy now that spring is just around the corner. Hurray!
