Awesome pictures, as always, Dirt. Here's to a better year than 2021, and all birdwatchers' yards being full of birds.

I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you.

Waiting here for the robins to come back. We usually get pretty big flocks arrive in late January to early February on their travels back north. Of course we do have some that stay here year round. I was amazed to find out last winter that they will eat seed cakes in the winter. I thought I knew about robins; evidently I don't.
Love the seagulls, Diet! We have them here on the lake, and some like to hang around on grocery store parking lots.
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.

Hey, you should call the newspapers and tell them you saw the first robin of the year!

Well, I've finally found something useful about Bradford pears. I was watching my backyard for birds and saw cardinals in my small tree eating the little hard pears they produce. Otherwise, I think they're trash trees. A town here, Fayetteville, is actually paying residents to remove the Bradford pears, then they are replacing them with free native trees better suited to the landscape. My tree is a seedling of a larger one next door.

When I lived in Clarence,N.Y. the property line had a row of Bradford pears. I made pear sauce...it was quite good and the pears were sweet enough so no sugar needed.

Wow! The turkeys are awesome! Well, all the pics are! I really liked the red headed woodpecker, I don't think we have them here; I'm going to look it up.

What a beautiful little bird! They are very hard to spot. Glad you got to see them. I've seen them in my backyard. I see a lot of different birds in my back yard vs my front yard.

I was inspecting a juniper I transplanted out front and I kept hearing this chirping noise. I looked over and they were feet away, hopping around the neighbor's shrubs. I don't think I would have spotted them otherwise, they're so small! *Blush*

Does your backyard have more places to hide versus the front yard?
