Heirloom sent me this rose five years ago when I ordered Gloire de Dijon. It most certainly is not the rose I ordered, but it is a once-bloomer and although it arrived as a toothpick and stayed below a foot for the first three years, it recently has grown to be a veritable monster of a climber.

Here's a closeup of a bloom. The rose has killer thorns.

Here's another bloom.

I love the casual petal arrangement and clear pink color. I wonder who it is?

My New Dawn repeat blooms, sparingly, has fewer petals, I think, and is a paler pink. It's one of my favorites. The thorns and vigor match though!

No. I have New Dawn and it doesn't look like it. As Porkpal said, New Dawn has fewer petals and reblooms.

I don't suppose there is any chance it is Queen Elizabeth?

I notice Columbia was on their list long ago. And Grand Hotel, and Mme Abel Chatenay, other LF rose in that shade of pink, roughly speaking.

No, it's a once-bloomer, so it can't be any of those, Steve.

It actually acts like Gloire de Dijon, sending out 15-foot canes in every direction, but it's the wrong color. I don't really think it was mislabeled. I think Heirloom thought it was Gloire de Dijon, but was mistaken.

What about Albertine? I haven't seen it in person, but ran across it researching climbing old garden roses.

Andi, I think you might be right. That's a very, very good guess.
