Jackie that is so cute!! They'll fill in and look amazing! I can't tell how large the planter is?? It looks kindof like a mini one?? Love the color, and it'll look great with the green semps! Hurray! I tip my hat to you.

Thanks Greg! It is a mini one Smiling Ive always wanted one and figured it was a sign to go ahead and grab the clearance one. Im hoping to put it out real soon in my new little greenhouse. I went out and purchased the same on that Jennifer had from Menards here. It was still on sale for the 14.99 Hurray! Just need to put it together. Not sure if this weeks temps are good enough to keep the chicks out all day???

Personally I'd say yes!! Maybe take them in at night, for a day or so, and then they should be fine! They get cold and shivery, but the color is going to come out when they get cold and that's always cool to see!! I wouldn't put them in full sun for a week or so, then they should be totally fine! I tip my hat to you. Hurray! (I love those mini strawberry pots! I'm trying to NOT spend money on pots, and be resourceful! - meaning looking in my alley, and walks for discarded items that I can make into something!) Thumbs up

Greg I have been doing exactly that as well. My hubby finds himself always looking around as well wherever he goes for little things I could make into pots lol. I go thrift store shopping about every weekend to look for neat things. I know my chicks will love it much more being outside. I was thinking of putting the little greenhouse next to my house which would be on the north side of the house. Would this give them enough sunlight during the day? Too much? Im never sure about that.

Thank you Jennifer!! That's great news. What did you end up putting on the bottom of your little greenhouse? I was thinking a sand bag would do a good job.

I've abandonded the greenhouse for now. My semps are just in pots within winter sowing containers. After the first week of April I will take them out and just leave them in their containers somewhere that doesn't get too much sun.

Winter sowing containers? What are those exactly? Something to keep them warmer I presume? Confused

One is just a milk jug cut in half, holes in bottom, taped shut after semps put in it, no lid. The other is a clear plastic tub, holes in bottom, holes in top.

Oh. So is this to keep the cold from affecting it to rapidly? Basically little enclosed greenhouses? Why did you give up on your greenhouse?

Basically right now I'm trying to keep them from the hard night freezes and trying to keep them on the drier side.

I just don't have time right now to figure out how to anchor the greehouse. I will use it mid April when I spring sow my tender annuals. That will fill it and keep it weighed down all on its own!

I see. I will try putting the chicks outside during the day starting this weekend and then bring them in at night I think. Then when it starts staying warmer out at night I will take some of my tender's out I think. Smiling Make sure to update us with pictures! Thumbs up

Jackie you really only need to do this (bringing in and out) for a week or so, then they should be fully acclimated! These guys are meant to be "easy"! I think they'll do fine, especially since Jennifer's are outside! In terms of North side of house, if it is facing fully north, that probably is going to be too shady for them. In spring they would do fine with full sun! Its just in the heat of summer that they would require afternoon shade in your area. (IMHO)
Cheers I tip my hat to you. Big Grin

I agree with Greg that the north side of the house will not give them enough light.
