I just ordered these 3 grasses from Bluestone Perennials:

Deschampsia cespitosa 'Goldtau'
Miscanthus sinensis 'Gold Breeze'
Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Jambalaya'

Bluestone has a February sale and every Friday they add additional plants to the sale.

I ordered several from Bluestone a few weeks ago. Frank I am adding some grasses also. Trying to stay with sterile grass. My Diamond Grass self seed quite abit to my dismay.

I planted Calamagrostis brachytricha last year. I will have to watch it as far as self seeding...

Actually, I planted several new grasses last year. I will have to keep a eye out...

I'm laughing at my Bluestone order because despite many plants not a lot of variety.

Several achillea, several short Monarda, several phlox paniculata. A few agastache. A couple coreopsis and one penstemon.

I actually don't have room for all of it. But that never stops me Hilarious!

I have sown some hardy annuals and a few perennials. They are outside on the back porch. No fancy mini-greenhouses or milk jugs. Just used and clean cell-packs, with produce bags over them.

Loretta, I've loved Soldanella forever and have killed more than I care to recall. But they just don't tolerate our summer humidity.
I also have P odoratum Byakko but it has been a disappointment. The variegation isn't anywhere near as striking as the pictures. I'll be curious how it does for you.

Scott, the one soldanella I had did great last summer but it looks like the top was ripped off or froze off during winter so I don't think that one is coming back.
I don't have high hopes for 'Byakko' either or the Disporum for that matter. As much as I love those woodland shade plants, my yard does best with meadow or prairie type plants that don't need dry humidity.

I agree with trying soldanella again, since it sounds like you had better luck than I did. They are so beautiful it's worth the risk. I plant lots of things with low risk of survival, but to me the reward of one surprisingly doing well is worth it. Hope yours work out!!

Thanks! This year I joined the local NARGS so maybe I can get some tips on some. I already got one for iris cristata which disappears on me. One member plants it in duff and the other in stone dust. They all seem to agree it doesn't like soil.

Received 4 Baptisia on April 9th from Almost Eden. Good packing and plants look good. They are hardening off in my greenhouse. It has been a little to cold to plant them in the garden, still freezing temps at night.

Baptisia 'Pixie Periwinkle '
Baptisia 'Royal Purple'
Baptisia 'Sunny Morning'
Baptisia 'Vanilla Cream'
