I guess I'd need a bigger place for something like that. Lemme think on this and maybe find a gazebo somewhere here, with a grill, some shade, and places to sit.

It depends on how many come. A group of us from the Austin area got together a few years ago and went " nursery crawling." We met at one nursery, then caravaned to Whole Foods. We parked in the underground garage so,our plants would stay cool. Had lunch there and then went to my house to drop off our plants before heading out to another couple of nurseries. Back again here for drinks and dessert. I think there were about twelve.
Anymore than that, you should find a spot to have it and let everyone help pay for the rental.

I remember meeting at the Woodlands. That's the one Ceejay hosted.

That's right ! And you gave me some gingers that I thought I'd killed, but they survived. They bloomed last summer. Wonder what happened to CJ?

I'm not sure exactly but, she was a bit upset when dave thought he was going to shut down Cubits, because of the problems with the other place. She made an angry post at the other place and never came back to either. But on the positive side, that is how I found out about Cubits.

That's too bad. She was a nice gal. ( 'Even though she walked up to me at the swap and said, "Gee, Big Bubbles, I thought you'd be BIG! You're little." )
Glad you found Cubits, and glad you're here now.

Unless she heard it through the grapevine, I doubt it. See made that post on DG about a day or two before you were going to shut down and she never post again at either place.

Hey, Marilyn, if you see her post again, ask her to post to ATP and let us know she's still around. I remember her beautiful plumeria that was dug every winter and stored until spring. Maybe she just needs to know we are looking for her!

There is a daylily yard sale on April 26th in Houston. I don't have a big enough house - or a nice enough yard! - for an RU, but it would be fun to do a nursery hop. Smiling We did one several years ago, starting at the daylily yard sale (he does it every year - http://www.ofts.com/bill/yards...), and then had breakfast before going to several nurseries in the Heights area. Anyone want to come play? I think we went to Joshua's Native Plants (http://www.joshuasnativeplants...) and Buchanan's (http://buchanansplants.com/), both of which are very close to the yard sale.

Oh, rats... I just realized I'll be camping with the little bunny that weekend. Well, the garage sale is still fun if any of you want to go. Hilarious! He has beautiful daylilies for $4 to $10 each, some named and some just numbered seedlings.

I would love to host one. But I don't know a thing about it except from what Sandi has described. I had 60 people crammed into my backyard once for The Bride's Burger Bash before my DD's wedding. So I think we could do it at my house. But my yard is no looker since Dh came home from the hospital. We have out of town plans for early summer. Then after that I assume the heat would do us all in. Maybe in the fall?

Thanks Marylyn, we'll look forward to hearing from her.

Cheryl, don't take on more than you can handle. I would gladly host a round-up here, but Austin has become such a weekend destination that there's no place to congregate anymore without planning way in advance.

The first round up I went to was in Houston. It was at Randy's. Rained like it would never end on the way there. DH and I took the truck filled with plants and (mosquito fish for Randy's pond). Skies cleared, beautiful day. Randy was a great host. We were at least 30 people wandering in and out of his house. I knew none of them, other than on DG, before the swap.

After the swap, we had sooo much good food, then a group went to Penzey's to buy spices (which I had only been able to order on line before), others to a nursery. Headed back to Randy's to make a stop at Zone 9 Tropicals. Most had already left for there, and as DH and I walked out to our truck, this guy drove up and asked if we were going to the Zone 9 nursery. We said yes and he said to jump in the truck, he was going there too. He turned out to be the owner of Zone 9! I was in Heaven when we got there....DH, not so much. I liked it a lot!

That night was an after swap party at Randy's. Luckily, we had checked in to a motel that morning. Got back to Austin with a truckload of plants and lots of memories.
