So I guess this is the season for the semp arach to do its new babies..my new semp arach has been busy making new offshoots last week, like weaving a wheel of growth around it. And am I glad it endured the beating it got yesterday during sudden rain/hail event. Weather much improved today, so it is opening the new little rosettes. Really liking this one a lot! Lovey dubby

Tarev, that's the biggest colony of arachs I've seen this new season. Where did you get the gallon size arachs?

HI Bev, nope they are not gallon sized..just in 6-inch containers. I got it along with some other succulents at the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show sold by Succulent Gardens of Castroville, CA

Wow, you did shopping at the show!!! That's the part I am always afraid of; having no control at the show. A friend asked me to go on a Sunday and I didn't want to on a weekend. I'm more a weekday girl but couldn't make the weekday opening. Maybe next year...

Just love that pot of arach semps. They are sure going to town making offsets. Won't be long and you won't be seeing dirt in that pot. Lovey dubby

Bev, I understand how you feel about the shopping...it was so hard to choose from the line-up of wonderful succulents. Though this year their minimum purchase if paying by credit card is $40..if I remember it right, before it was at $25. But it was fun, they give you a box tray and just fill it up with whatever sized potted succulents...so easy to do and get sticker shock later Rolling my eyes. Big Grin This time around I chose low growing, ground cover types, I intended to get cuttings from them to fill up my ongoing succulent ball planter.

Yes, Greg, this is my first semp..I have always loved succulents..makes me look like a good gardener Big Grin especially when it becomes so hot and dry in summer. these ones ably endure.

Tarev, I hear ya! On the succulent thing! This year I've decided that once I put them outdoors for the summer, I'm only taking a couple back inside. I'm going to keep them somehow dry (not sure but plenty of time to figure that out) and if there's a frost warning I'll cover them. I've been talking to several people who choose their plants based on "survivability" in winter in this area I tip my hat to you.

Ah that huge aeonium was pulled from a garden of a friend about 4 years ago. Looks so domineering looking above the rest of the succulents. It is fun to watch the way it grows through the seasons..sometimes it goes very green and flat like a saucer, or sometimes it seems protruding outwards, like ready to run away as it follows the sun Rolling on the floor laughing
