It is a fantastic presentation! I saw it when it was aired live but missed some parts. I am going to watch it again tomorrow. I think you will like it and find it very informative.

Wow! Karol was so generous with her time and knowledge. Very nice that it's saved and that Karen shared it here for those of us that didn't see it live. Thumbs up

Think about how much care she takes in evaluating what to register. It seems inconceivable that anything from my little postage stamp of a garden would be so worthy.

Well, I have always been impressed with her facilities for hybridizing. But the video did make me feel a little like being in a body building contest, way over matched to the point of embarrassment. It took a little while to shake the feeling of inadequacy and I was left feeling a little depressed by the overpowering expense of it all. Then I got back in the garden and was able to appreciate that I love my little garden with all its quaintness and cheap little shed and free garden hose, and hand dug beds and was able to more appreciate just what devotion and commitment she has given to us all in the daylily world.

The good thing about being small, Larry, is that you can be laser focused and nimble. Whereas the big goliaths..... Thinking

At my age not sure laser focus is an option anymore. I can't seem to remember where I left the shovel.

Haha! My garden is mostly brown, still, except for a few crocuses and grape hyacinth leaves. I got over the feeling that I should just pave over my whole yard when I went down to the basement to check on my seedlings under the lights. I guess that's all I need. Smiling

Talk about focus, I never get anything done in the garden. I move a plant, have it in my shovel and spot another that needs to be moved. I dig that, get it planted, spot some weeds that MUST be pulled, then find a plant coming up that I thought was dead and check it out. Continue in this mode. Next day I am checking things out and stumble over the daylily that I dug the day before and failed to plant, go to get my shovel from the garage. Not there, now what did I do with that?

Larry, you are not alone! Thanks for sharing what I felt but couldn't express as articulate as you did.

Tim, I am glad you got over that feeling of paving your yard! I still sure want to see your beautiful seedlings!

Nancy, isn't aging fun! Most times I can't find what I am looking for at the moment. But in the process of looking for it, I found things that I was looking for last month or last year. Confused Confused

Tim your dedication will pay off soon Crossing Fingers!
Our gardens are part of the whole !! As was pointed out, bigger comes with its challenges. Karol Emmerich mentioned all the setbacks that she had with the greenhouse. Rust snuck in and she had to empty out the greenhouse. She showed a hybridizer greenhouse that collapsed. Even small gardens has its challenges. When it comes to weeding, Alexandria on "The Middle Size Garden" suggest, rather than trying to do it all at once, we should try to do fifteen minutes at a time each day to maintain the weeds.
