Yes, I know caladiums shouldn't be planted between roses, unless you live in my part of the country and you grow some of your roses in the shade, but in case you have some shady locations in your garden, here's a great deal on caladiums.

Bert Bleek, who's a member of our rose cubit, sent out this e-mail yesterday:

Hello Gardeners,

Here is your opportunity to buy the best Caladiums available in the largest selection and from the Caladium Super Store itself. Bill from Caladium Bulbs 4 Less is offering these for the next 2 weeks at 50% off the regular website prices. He will ship them directly to you at the proper planting time for your area. They are guaranteed to grow. See the Caladium ordering Co-op on our website www.eflowergarden.com. You just sign in like you did with our other Co-ops or if you want to be a new member, just create a new Co-op user ID and password (It is free) and look around.

We also still have some Daylilies, Gladiolus, Lilies and Hosta's left for shipping March 23.

I ordered some glads, lilies, and daylilies from Bert just a few weeks ago, and the prices are amazingly low. I've bought lots of plants from him in the past and I've always been happy with them, so take a look at the other co-ops while you're there. Do it quickly because they'll be shipped out in just a couple of weeks.

How on earth do you pay? I looked all over, couldn't find how you pay / what forms of payment they take (you think they take kitties?). Any clues? I want some glads!

Plant them in a circle around the new trees. By the time the tree gets big enough to cast a lot of shade, maybe they'll have adapted to it.

hey, that's a GREAT idea! I love it! Smiling :) :)

I'm looking at this rose here:

http://rosemania.com/shopsite_...

Hopefully I'll ahve the back yard finished (YA RIGHT!!) this spring/summer, so I'll post pictures of when it's done. The trees I planted in the back yard are:

2 Mountain Purple Ash
1 "Hot Wings" Tartarian Maple
1 "Brandywine" Maple
1 Chanticleer Pear
1 Autumn Brilliance Service Berry - clumping form
1 Golden Chain
1 Golden Rain
1 "Flame Amur" Maple - clumping form
1 Wate's Gold Pine
1 "Crimson Cloud" Hawthorn
1 Hillside Gold Pine
1 "Indian Magic" Crabapple - clumping form

Most of these trees don't get any bigger than 15-20', so I'm OK as far as width. But, after about 10-20 years, the entire back yard will be one giant shade spot, which is good 'cuz right now, there's no shade & it faces south!

This is so weird: My post got lost in cyberspace, but the thread says I contributed the latest post. So, as well as I can remember, this is what I said:

Kismet's a great choice and it's a miniflora, so you'll be able to grow it in a large container and move it around if it's not getting enough sun under the trees.

That list of trees is really impressive. Your garden's going to be gorgeous when they all start growing.
