I remember the first rain after the summer of 1980. Did the same thing, walked outside and just stood in it. Worked at a small town convenience store at the time, and people were pulling over to the side of the road and pulling into our parking lot to get out and do the same thing. Smiling

I wish we could have some kind of guarantee! The best chance we have here is 20% for two days in the forecast. Kind of far from the 100% chance every day through the end of the month...that's what I'd like!

We have clouds! Looks like the hill country is getting a little rain. It's 76 this morning. Can't remember how long ago it was that cool. The ACL event is about to close down the city for the weekend. Hope the weather is at least tolerable for it.

Well, I hope the breeze picks up a bit by this afternoon. Right now it will be godawful out there with the humidity!

Are you going? We usually hop over to DD's on Sunday evening to hear the last set. It's just loud enough to hear across Mo-Pac and into their neighborhood. This is first year I can remember when SIL isn't going (golf weekend won out).

Yes ma'am! We're big music fans so we like to go just to hear new bands. Not sure if the closing band is going to be as good as they were in 2007. They've evidently gotten full of themselves and don't put on a good show/music like they used to. Tomorrow night is Stevie Wonder!!!

The show (the one on PBS) is filmed throughout the year. Their new venue is even hosting regular concerts.

For the festival, it's 3 days once a year. DH and I have gone most of the years but it looks like we'll miss next year. They've been raising the ticket price every year, and there are less and less acts we're interested in seeing. Guess we're getting too old! lol

pattie with an e goes to that music festival in stephenville every year. they've been going for decades. they love it although i've never been. have you? she says that one is country.

and yeah some acts are not my cup of tea either. and ticket prices usually make it cost prohibitive for me too. i don't think stephenville is too bad as i think it's in a pasture. pastures are always cheaper than fancy buildings. they got a new building for ACL right?

mamajack: I'll have to look into the Stephenville festival. We've gone to Kerrville (heck, we got married there!) but haven't been for a few years. I guess since we're getting older, we might find that fest better again.

ACL Festival and the PBS show are two different things. Some of the acts from the festival will do tapings for the TV show, but only a select few. We went to a taping before they moved into their new building (which has a much larger seating and standing area than the old) for Steve Martin (yes, the actor, who is also a phenomenal bluegrass artist). Those were free tickets only, and given to donors or to people selected by a small contest. The tickets are now for purchase, but very reasonable prices. A much better option, as true fans almost never got into the tapings previously, as they were reserved for donors.

Kerrville Folk Festival starts late May and runs to early June. There are small events during the week but they get some great singer/songwriter acts on the weekends. Peter, Paul and Mary have done performances there and are very involved. One of Mary's last performances was just a few years ago before she passed. They get acts from all over - one of our favorites was a traditional violinist from Ireland, and Trout Fishing in America is there every other year or so.

There is also a small wine and music festival in early September. We've never been to that one though.
