Dave would it be possible to have an avatar that changes say, every five minutes? One that we could load a number of photo into the avatar entry, and it would run through the entries?

Can we use animated gifs as avatars too?

There's nothing stopping you from changing your avatar as often as you like, but I am not going to set it up to be automatically changing.

As for animated avatars, I have to be honest and say that I hate other forums that do that. It is way too distracting in my opinion.

I change my avatar frequently. If I take a picture that really pleases me I make a change.

I would find animated avatars to me distracting also.
Guess I should get in the habit of changing my avatar at least once a month.

It's no big deal. I am happy even if we had no avatar at all.

I think your avatar is basically your logo and changing it dilutes the impact of the message you are trying to convey.
That is why I don't change mine. Of course that is just my opinion, and I am sure most people don't look at it the same way I do

If an avatar expresses a message I guess my ever changing one expresses my love for the wide variety of beauty I am blessed to see. Saw this Osteospermum yesterday. I don't grow them but wow...they are gorgeous.

I think you're both right. With Paul, I expect to see new photos as his avatar. With others, I recognize them by their same image all the time.

Dave....one thing I will guarantee......my avatar will never be a picture of me. Flowers and plants are beautiful...I'm getting old and funny looking...oh well.

And I also recognize Josephine as soon as I see her Texas Blue Bonnets. It says so much about where she is from.
