Connie very nice! I do see a couple lilies coming up in the backround of the last photo! Hurray! I love flowers, but lillies seem to be one of those special ones for me! I tip my hat to you.

You are correct about the lilies, Greg. Up until last year this large bed was chock full of lilies. I still have lots of them and seedlings coming along too. Lily week is in July here on ATP. One thing about lilies is by having some from each division you can have bloom from May or June into early November here in the PNW.

Connie I'll keep that in mind for ATP raffle!! I bet those lily beds looked amazing! Why did you decide to switch over? Are you changing over to Irises?
I had to switch from Irises and sun loving plants because my bed borders a parking lot and the vehicles are so tall that now its a part shade plot - Crazy huh? I so want to tell people, no vehicles over 4 feet tall! Thumbs up Sticking tongue out

I'm not switching over but the whole thing got way too weedy for me to care for and I needed to cull. I also needed a bit more room for Japanese iris seedlings. Here are few pictures of that bed from 2010 and 2011 showing some of my favorites:

That red one is really a cherry red. I imported both from Canada, you just can't find them in the US.

Thanks, Lynn Smiling . I have another order from Canada expected this month or early next. A few of us lily lovers get together for one order to save on the phyto fee which is a flat rate regardless of amount of bulbs ordered.

Nothing fancy, but these are my early spring potsThumb of 2013-04-26/Jewell/56f5d5
These three are filled primarily with perennials. The peach primrose is an annual in this zone, but may be worth taking in this fall. nodding

Jewell, I like the cascading plant (lamium?) in the square planter. What is the blue planter in the back made of? I like that color to offset some of your plants' coloring. Everything looks so feminine and elegant but pink does that to things, doesn't it? thanks for sharing! Smiling

Bev, the cascading plant is Lamium maculatum 'Red Nancy'. I am curious to see how red it really is. The primrose is a new one to me, Primula obconica (German Primrose). The back/blue container has a baby hosta 'Big Daddy' and a baby maiden hair fern. Last year planters with hostas looked so good I had to try it again. Rolling my eyes. Thumbs up

Thanks Greg and Joanne Big Grin

Yes, the slugs do love them when they are first coming up. They can eat the tops right off!! You can get dwarf lilies which work great in pots. There are lots of colors and patterns in the "Tiny" series of dwarf Asiatic lilies.

I have never tried this treatment on lilies.I have a slug problem on hostas. They love the light colored leaf ones.
Here's the treatment
When the hosta eyes appear,I pour a mixture of household ammonia and water ( 1 cup amonia to 10 cups water) around the eyes. The slug eggs are at the base of the plant aka food supply.
I wonder how it would work on lilies?
