I wanted to share pictures of a beautiful seedling that bloomed for me today. It is one of Subhana Ansari's of Flourishing Daylilies, and she has given me permission to post these pictures. She shared three of her seedlings with me a few weeks ago -- and all three have scapes now! This is the first that has bloomed, her Seedling #D234A, and the cross is WONDER OF IT ALL X BLUE BEAT. It is a small flowered daylily, and this first bloom measured just about 4" for me. It has a brilliant large neon chartreuse throat and wonderful colors, and I love the form!

When I first noticed it early this morning and the petals were not quite open all the way:

And later in the day - sorry, stamens are gone

I am really into the smalls and minis, and I can only dream of someday having a seedling this pretty! On her website she posts pictures of all her beautiful seedlings and introductions -- a real treat! And she is also Subhanaflourishing on the Lily Auction.

Here is the link to her website, if anyone wants to have a look:

We are late this year which is probably on time for a change though Shrug! We won't have any blooms until sometime later in April; the past 2 years we had some in March. I have several scapes on the new arrivals and on a couple of 18 month seedlings. I'm kinda glad we don't have too many scapes because we had a couple of freezes that have messed up some buds on some of the scapes.

Oh drat -- I was looking forward to see your pictures starting up any time now. Today's was the last for me for a little while, but at least I don't think we have to worry about any freezes here. Hilarious!

How about a thread for April blooms, instead of one for each day? Thumbs up

That would be great, altho during peak bloom, everyday is fine too. I miss alot of pictures during bloom season with so many picture threads. I hope some that make their own threads will post a few on it as well. Its just impossible to go thru everyones individual picture threads.

Betty, it is so wonderful to see your blooms. It is sorta like havng chicken soup when you are sick. The photos provide that excitement we need as we anticipate bloom season in our own gardens while we wait for spring weather. Keep 'em coming, PLEASE!

OK, I'll do my best! I have a bunch of scapes coming along from my Floyd Cove order, but they're still a few weeks away. And I certainly do hope someone else has a bloom or blooms to share with us before mine are ready! Maybe Michele and Fred will have some pretty soon?

I thought there might not be to much going yet for April, so maybe one thread would be a good idea - then I am sure around the end of the month and into May, Lyle will start into full bloom, as will down south, Betty etc... and they will start up individual threads for what's blooming in their gardens, similar to what Rita does. I am looking forward to seeing what is blooming! Been a long winter!
