I just have visions of kitties happily curled up in that planter/hamper......or possibly doing something less adorable in it..... Whistling

Thanks Susan! I tip my hat to you. Thumbs up

This is what y'all are talking about regarding planting soil and flowers in? Wouldn't all the soil fall out of the side holes? Blinking

Maybe I'm missing a step here. Confused

Chelle will probably chime in soon, I think she put trash cans inside these and I need to know too because I don't have anything that will fit in these. I thought I did but I looked yesterday and nothing works. Blinking

(2 of each shown) 2.8L cans. The plastic liner on the left can be used inside the mesh container on the right.

How many holes do you drill in the bottom of the black trash can?

What's the height and width of the two type of trash cans?

I drill three good-sized holes around the underside of the bottom edge, and one in the center...usually. I make fewer holes for bog type plants.

The ones I like the best are 8" wide by 14" tall. They can be a bit harder to find. I especially like these for shrubs grown from seed or purchased small. I've had some seed started shrubs in these for three years now and they're still happy. Smiling

The liners shown in the pix above are 10" wide, by 12" tall.

I have used the mesh liners as storage for my dahlia tubers and other bulbs. A nail in the rafters holds the wire mesh liners. The small holes prevents critters but gives aeration.

I haven't Jackie, but I can't see why it wouldn't work. I'd use the tallest container I could manage though; something like the very large can this large dahlia is growing in. It's probably four times as big as the cans mentioned above, and then site it near a convenient water supply.
