My coffee made a dozen or so cherries. Has anyone tried growing them?

I think you're in the rarified air by just having your plant make some beans.

No special care, lol. Unless you count 'standing the darn thing upright after every storm' special care. I wonder if they self pollinate? Surely I don't have the same insects as tropics.
I should go see what the berries look like after 3 days rain in a cup on the bench.

The cherries were rained on in a cup for three days, today I squeezed them and the beans popped out of the pulp. I planted 20 beans in one pot, and 6 more floater beans in another.. floaters may be duds. Trial number 1...

There can't be many people in MD harvesting coffee beans. That's so fun!

Nothing yet. I'm afraid the days they soaked in rainwater were too much and rotted them. Seems like something should have come up by now.

oh, guess what.. some time later, I had forgotten the coffee beans, and got one seedling! It finally has two true leaves at this point. It had a thread in ID forum sometime. Yay- because my bush is really not happy this winter.

Thea, my big coffee is also sad this year. It's in the library with very dry air and it is hard to keep up watering. Lost a lot.of leaves. Here's the baby

I bought coffee seeds from 2 different companies & didn't have any luck with them so I bought a plant, actually a little pot that had 7 in it. I think I'm down to 5 now I bought it for my dad but I tend to it.

My father brought me a humidifier today. It's big & bulky & I'll have to try to make some room for it, but I'm hoping it will help. I've got a few other plants that are struggling with this indoor heat & I really don't want to lose them.

The humidifier should make everyone feel better.

I think my baby came up around July? Long enough that I had forgotten it was in there. I had to post the mystery seedling for ID here and someone (smart!) correctly named it from the two big round seed leaves that look nothing like regular leaves of course.

Looks kind of soggy. I have no idea what is going on, but I would remove the fallen leaves. If it's some kind of pathogen, that could help prevent spreading.

I had just pulled the leaves off of one of the plants. I am however having a really hard time trying to figure out how much to water them though

I don't think it's a pathogen cause I have tons of plants around them & they seem to be fine. I think it's just figuring out what the plant wants. I've read up on it & have tried to get it right but it just doesn't seem to like anything. I very lightly sprayed a diluted foliar fertilizer & diluted superthrive solution on it today & it's been under lights & near a humidifier since yesterday.

All I can say is that the soil looks very wet right now. Too much water is bad. As you may know.

I took a stick & loosened up the soil. I'll work some more perlite into it when I'm done putting up some more shelves & moving 50 million plants

I'll try and remember to add a picture tomorrow here. Baby coffee is having a nice summer with big glossy leaves. But mealybugs love it! Must be vigilant if they ever start.
