Oh, of course! Should have thought of that! I love their botanical name, Salpiglossis sinuata; you can practically hiss it! Hilarious!

They are so pretty! I grow them every year. Although they do tend to get a bit leggy if the container is too small. I was surprised how much better they did in raised beds, rather than pots.

So is that a container combination, JoAnn? Nice mix! Very colorful!
I saved seeds off my Chocolate Royale last year and am curious to see if they come true from those seeds. Doesn't matter, tho, because they're all just beautiful. I couldn't believe my eyes the first time I saw a photo of one. It was a bit of a quest to find them initially, too.

Ah, you'll have to show us how the finished product looks. Sounds like it will be very nice!
I haven't had much luck buying live plants online, and we don't have a good nursery anywhere near. I sometimes pick up a few pansies and petunias, but mostly if I want something, I get seeds and start them in my GH. But it's a lot of work.

I forgot about those. I wanted to grow some this year. I guess it's too late. Sad

Karen: Darn ,I just thought of it myself.

Karen, I only started mine indoors about 2 weeks ago. If you have seeds on hand, might as well try some!

I don't know woofie. 65-75 DTM. Recommended seeding 6-8 weeks before last frost. I don't know if they'll have time to flower.

Joanne (joannabanana) recommends just covering them lightly, rather than trying to keep them in the dark. I tried that this year, and they came up just fine. I covered them with some vermiculite. They look much better than the ones I tried surface sowing and then trying to keep in the dark.
