I've been wanting a Chief Joseph, but can't stomach paying $300 for a 2' tall tree.

Let me guess...The yellow one costs a lot of money. That's the one I wanted. I can pick out an expensive plant from a mile away. The color of it is just awesome though.

Clint - Yea, that's the Chief Joseph. A LGS here has 3 trees about 2' tall and each one I believe is $299.99.

The ones at the LGS are about 2-2.5 feet tall & actually look like trees like the photo. That's why the ridiculous price.

Ok got it, yes that makes a big difference! I saw these for the first time a year ago and then in Feb at the NWflower and garden show. They are striking!

Are they for cooler zones? I know I read some place that they can't take a lot of sun.

Clint - Yes, they're for cooler zones. Most pine trees don't like zone 8 and higher. One of the few cool things we colder zones can have!! :)
