Holly what type of glue do you use? My friend used epoxy and the pieces she glued came apart in 3 weeks. Also where are you finding the glass bottles for the back. That is what I am having a hard time finding. A lady at a flea markey her drills a hole in the center and bolts them. She was getting 65 - 85 dollars. She said alot broke while drilling.

Also what kind of paint do you use.

I use E6000 it works very well for the plates. I really like using the flat sided bottles much easier than drilling but they are hard to find. I grab all I can find at the thrift shoppes. Yes you can drill them also and there are quite a few tutorials on drilling plates if you search U-tube.
Not a glass plate flower but this craft project was also done with the E6000 glue I spread the E6000 glue on the glass and placed some of our beach collection in the glue then poured sand over it. The shells, star fish, driftwood, colored glass and sand all held very well and I was very pleased with the finished project.

Thanks everyone. I have an ocean theme bedroom for the Grands and that is where I put mine but you could easily do something similar to hang in the garden. Hang and old window from a branch or on a privacy fence and use bits of colored glass to make a mosaic or any number of things.

ilovejesus99, I found really good flat sided bottles that I can buy any time I need them. I saw a set of hand painted cruet bottles at the thrift shop. Ric said I bet you could by them at the Restaurant supply store for a few dollars and he was right. I paid about 2$ for a pair of them and I think they will be perfect for my glass plate flowers. They come in a tall and short version and some are colored (they cost more) but the basic short clear glass cruet is just right and easily available. I found them on line if you don't have a Restaurant supply store near you. http://www.webstaurantstore.co...

Thanks so much and also for the link. I put 2 in the cart and shipping was 12 something and I put in 30 of them and shipping was 11 dollars. Both were ground shipping. I will absolutely be looking to see if we have a restaurant supply close or use the link to order. I am anxious to hear how they work for you. I checked ebay and wow the price is awfully high.

Not sure when I will make another one but I did pick up some interesting plates at the Salvation Army the other day. They are clear glass with a very dark blue irregular shape in the middle. I usually build my flower and then give it a few days to set up good and strong, then I attach the back piece. I am sure you could do it all in one setting but this way I can turn the flower over and make sure I have my back bottle well centered.

The day I read about the oil and vineger bottles and priced them with shipping on the link you provided I went to a Dollar General and they had 6 of them with some decal for 1 dollar each. I am going to hit the other ones in a near by town and get some more. They only got in a 10 ct box for spring.

I finally started gluing some of my art together. Here is just a few.

I second that. They really are beautiful.
You have a great eye for putting them together that blue glass plate with the china plate with the striping is perfect. Looks like radiating petals. The crystal plate on the dark burgundy with the green really shows off well. Same goes for the last pic, the striping looks great with the dark burgundy and just a hint of color in the trumpet shows very well. Great jobs on all of them.
