Suggestions on what to plant in a beautiful planter my mom brought from New Mexico? I thought it would be filled with gorgeous plants and living on my patio table already. Alas, my mom has not filled it. It's multi-colored, briliant blues, yellows, greens, pinks, etc.
Oh, if only my mommy would fill it for me! Sad

Sounds pretty Sharlynn! What USDA planting zone are you in?? What size is the pot? Do you have a photo of it? This will help people think of things to plant in it! Big Grin I tip my hat to you.

Mom! What planting zone am I in? (and the pot is still at my mom's) Crying
Where is that Valleylynn? I would think she'd be responding to this ASAP! She must be out in the garden!
I see my Auntie here though! Hi Auntie M! Big Grin I will have to think about this strange possibility of offering some time helping in her garden...seems so foreign to me! Blinking Would that involve any dirt?

Dirt is good stuff...... It helps take away the anxieties of our stress filled lives.

God designed us to play in the dirt.

Didn't he put us first in a beautiful garden?

I bet those grandchildren love to play in the dirt like G grandma ... Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Greg - as long as I can brush it off I think I'll be okay then.

Auntie M - you're right. Maybe I'll start gardening now with that perspective...yeah, right! Let's be honest...that's not going to happen. I do enjoy sitting in the garden visiting while Mom's working on her plant beds though (and actually have been known to get my hands dirty occasionally and actually help!). I suppose if I want plants in the planter I'm going to have to suffer through a little dirt. Shrug!

Auntie M! I'm hurt to think you believe there are any ulterior motives other than trying to figure out what plants should go in this beautiful container!

Okay, you all need to know that whatever goes into the container must be
1. tough
2. drought tolerant
3 perennial
4. 1/2 day of sun

I would like to see something that will drape over the side, with plants that will mound in the middle.
What do all of you think?

Shar(bear) ...couldn't resist calling you that Sticking tongue out Do you live near your mom? So you're in zone 8?
Lynn by "tough" do you mean its going to get knocked over? Or that it won't get watered often?
I of course think a sedum should be somewhere in the picture!! nodding
