Suggestions on what to plant in a beautiful planter my mom brought from New Mexico? I thought it would be filled with gorgeous plants and living on my patio table already. Alas, my mom has not filled it. It's multi-colored, briliant blues, yellows, greens, pinks, etc.
Oh, if only my mommy would fill it for me!

Sounds pretty Sharlynn! What USDA planting zone are you in?? What size is the pot? Do you have a photo of it? This will help people think of things to plant in it!

Shar - yes dirt but the kind you can brush off...not greasy dirt from machinery! How fun that you have an "Auntie M" !!

Dirt is good stuff...... It helps take away the anxieties of our stress filled lives.

Auntie M - you're right. Maybe I'll start gardening now with that perspective...yeah, right! Let's be honest...that's not going to happen. I do enjoy sitting in the garden visiting while Mom's working on her plant beds though (and actually have been known to get my hands dirty occasionally and actually help!). I suppose if I want plants in the planter I'm going to have to suffer through a little dirt.

Well, at least show us a picture of this beautiful planter so we can all drool over it!

1. tough
2. drought tolerant
3 perennial
4. 1/2 day of sun


I would like to see something that will drape over the side, with plants that will mound in the middle.
What do all of you think?

Lynn by "tough" do you mean its going to get knocked over? Or that it won't get watered often?
