I've started a new thread for this so that the chat thread doesn't get filled up with pictures. I've been a bit snap happy the last day or two!

My pot/gravel bed finished, I'll never lay patio's for a living, but I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. Especially as I've never tried anything like this before! The only thing I'm not keen on is the willow edging to stop the whole thing falling into next doors garden. I'd love to put a fence up but that would block most of the afternoon sun from the garden, so best leave it as it is.

Pot of calcareum that I bought yesterday. When I split the pot I could see that all those chicks came from just one hen - amazing!

Thumb of 2013-04-07/Eviesmummy/6994ba
Here she is after splitting, with just one layer of chicks around her. In the gap at the back are two very tiny chicks that don't showon the photo Lovey dubby

After some consideration and measuring I've decided to leave the tin tubs alone for the time being, and make my rock garden in this quarter circle, maybe I could expand it next year though!

A quick route around in the bit of the garden that I don't admit to knowing that belongs to me, resulted in a good haul of stones to start off with

Kate I LOVE your pot/gravel bed! WOW! It really looks nice with the pots. And your new planting bed will be great... The beds hold so many more semps than pots! Hurray!

Thanks Patty! It'll look better when the plants look more like plants than sticks and bits of dead grass lol

Hurray! Kate I just love your gravel bed, so much eye appeal with the pots arranged so neatly. And when the willow fence starts deteriorating maybe you can replace it with more of the cement edging pieces?

Lawn is over rated, love what you will be doing with the quarter circle. Lovey dubby
I noticed that the area is sloped. Hmmm, maybe it could be terraced and planted with more semps. Hurray! Big Grin
The stones are wonderful, and will really add to beauty of the bed. Thumbs up

Thanks Spring.

Lynn, Yes, more cement edging is a good idea. The new bit will be a semp bed, but I wouldn't know where to begin with terracing it. Do you know of any good tutorials?

You can do a semi terracing using the stones to hold areas of earth/gravel in pockets. Kind of like these examples.

Nice pics! Semps would look great up and down those steps on the side. Are they already there? I can't see them well on this phone.

There are no semps on the steps Clint, and asthey are shared with our upstairs neighbour it's probably not a wise idea. Let's just say she's not thrilled about my latest gardening exploits..... Rolling my eyes.

I didn't mean on the steps where you walk. Rolling on the floor laughing I meant the side where the dirt is.

Kate I love your "Garden gnome" in the backround of first photo! How cute is she! Thumbs up Hilarious! The bed looks very nice, you could add more pots into it...did you see that silent movie of the person with all the pots in semps - something to aspire too!! Blinking I know I'm working on it! Hilarious!
I love the brick with cement of those steps, adding the rock garden there will look very nice with that as a backdrop! How exciting and inspiring! Hurray!
I tip my hat to you.

Such a fun place to start a Semp bed. A bit challenging too but I know it will look wonderful when you
get it all filled in. Some nice stones to hold the dirt in place will be a big help and give some shade to tiny semps too.

I too love your gnome. I had to go back through the pics to see if I missed something when I read Greg's post.
But there she was on the fence. ... was she thinking of doing a runner?? Hilarious!
