You guys will not believe what I did! Blinking Blinking I accidently drank some superthrive!!! Whistling I called poison control and they said to drink some milk, you will be fine. I was potting up my semps from Lynn and Greg. Figured a bit of superthrive would be good to perk them up. 2 drops came out into the watering can. The can had a bit of water in it so I poured part into my drinking glass thinking I would use it later. Then forgot! I was hot after being outside so filled the water glass up and chugged it down. Wonder if it will do anything for me! Confused

I make soap and candles and stuff, it's why I always drink out of a water bottle, but I use beakers for non-food, that way I don't make mistakes. I would be in so much trouble if I had to drink milk, ugh.

Chiming in a bit late on the SUPERthrive discussion. I think it smells like vinegar with vitamins in it, myself. Everybody over on the Orchids forum uses it in a very low dose to mist orchids so I bought some. But I am a skeptic. Take a magnifying glass and read the label. It's all hype! "Billions - PROVEN B A L A N C E D ORIGINAL NORMALIZER MAXIMIZER" The label doesn't really say anything except to hype how great it is "#1 Plant Health, Extra Life, Activator, Reviver, Transplanter, extra Grower, Perfecter . . . since 1940, unchallenged, $5000. GUARANTEED to be World Champion (of what??). . what does all this really mean? If you read through the article above, there's a story about someone trying to make a claim against their many Guarantees and getting nowhere. Hmmm. I wonder how you'd go after the $5000? At the bottom of the card that was attached to my bottle, in very tiny print there is this:

"NON-WARRANTY: Makers cannot be responsible for use, whether or not thought to be according to directions (which have seemed valuable to 100% of users following them). However, write, with your phone number if you have a question on how to have easier plant success with SUPERthrive."

Just my opinion, but it's like some remedies you take because of the hype, then you're afraid to stop. But nobody really knows what good it does and you'll never know if it's doing anything until you stop. But . . . it might be doing something!

Here's a link to a forum, where a fellow did a little digging on SUPERthrive. http://forum.grasscity.com/abs... There have apparently been very few real studies done on this product. The main active ingredient is Vitamin B1, and there are plenty of studies that have shown no real benefit to most plants from applying B-vitamins. They are the main ingredients in some other transplanting mixes like Quick Start, too. In addition, this product is banned for use in some states, as an unregulated pesticide!

I do have a key lime tree that keeps aborting its fruit. Maybe I will try dousing it with SuperThrive to see if it makes any difference! It probably can't hurt, but does it really help at all? I'm going to use up this little bottle, then try doing without it and see what happens.

Elaine, I wonder if plants can sense one's expectations and therefor fall into the pit of "placebo" effect! Rolling on the floor laughing

There's no doubt in my mind about the 'placebo' effect! nodding

We want our plants to look better, so then we think they do. Rolling my eyes. It's human nature, and that's what has made the Superthrive people rich. We want all that bull on their label to be true.

I love to go away for a week, then when I come back I can really see the changes. Barring a trip, taking pictures is good, too.
