We actually have an old candlestick phone. And it really does work. Well, it would if we hooked it up. Cloth cord, two forked terminals, scratchy reception, but it does function. We used to have it connected and it was kind of a hoot to use, but people would ask what the heck was wrong with our phone connection. Hilarious!

Same thing with pay phones (phone booths).

"Do you mean a PRE-PAID cell phone?"

It never occurred to me that the name of a "dial-up" modem assumes that you know that phones once had dials.

Our grandkids can't even tell time on a "regular" clock -- just the digital types. And, I don't know if this is true everywhere, but they don't teach cursive writing here anymore, so they can't read that, either. But, sorry -- we digress...

I'm still considering trying one of the expandable hoses, good to hear that they seem to be making some improvements, such as the metal fittings.
I was also considering the coil-type hoses, but I remember the phone cord tangles all too well...

I, too, noticed the digression - thinking, 'what did I say about pocket hoses...' So, back on topic: I plan to buy another one for my decorative spinning sprinkler and fit it out with a quick connect - should be much easier to drag out to the middle of my herb garden, sprinkle away, then disconnect and keep the hose handy to the hose bib.

Not a fan of the coil hoses, in addition to tangling up, they seem to have a mind of their own and knock everything over.

I threw my coil out. A real pain and did not reach very far. Bought a different expandable from Lowes, it is a bit heavier than original and does not shrink up as small. It has an aluminum fitting. And leaks less at the spigot than did the plastic expandable.
Reserving judgement till after this year. I hope it does not have to be replaced as regularly as did the old ones.

And didn't someone post something about being careful connecting aluminum fittings to brass?

I agree; those coil hoses are just garbage. They catch on everything and do more harm than good.

Add me to the list of the TV flex hose-haters. First time out of the box, when it started expanding after I turned on the water, it flopped, grazed a knockout rose bush and a pinhole fountain was created. Interesting idea, poor execution.
Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.

Not sure about fashionable, but I 'd add inexpensive! Whistling
