This is an iris that is so much nicer than the photos tend to show. What makes it a standout is the color, a smoky, misty medium purple that looks like something you'd choose for a velvet gown. It is a 1990's vintage so it lacks the intense ruffling (that I adore) of the newer iris, but the flowers are huge and once established it is a vigorous grower here for me in the northeast. Because of the color, it goes in any cut flower arrangement --- it was great as the "feature" with County Cork and Crimson Lights, but it could also be the background for a wilder selection, whether warm or cool colors. Gotta say, I love it!
