I don't know how Dave manages a farm, a family AND websites. I find spring much too busy, withOUT a family, and just a few square yards of garden.

I'm all ears!

I like what I've heard.
I moved from zone 10a to zone 8 both in in Fl. & I tried to make sure to put comments for each plant I actually owned & grew down south & I noted that I grew it in zone 10 southern coastal Fl. so people wouldn't think I grew it up here in zone 8 b/c conditions can be extremely different between the two even though many of the same plants grow here as there.
When I ask for help on ID's, I always say "growing in zone 8 north central Fl." so the ID'ers have a much better idea of what to rule in or out.

P.S. I also like the addition to the db photos where you can put the photo for the habitat view. That one photo is worth a thousand words as far as I'm concerned. It gives you "the big picture". Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

When ValleyLynn proposed the addition of the "Habitat" photo gallery, I'm sure she meant the natural habitat of plants. Lately I've been seeing people add long shots of flower beds to the database under the "Habitat" category. I'm not sure that's valid. Confused

The "galleries" are the different categories of images: Entire plant, Bloom, Fruit, etc. There's no way to access all of the photos in any gallery yet, but I believe that's part of the long-range planning for the site.

I think this is an interesting subject & perhaps we should discuss it in it's own thread & define what qualifies as a habitat view. To that end, I have started a new thread so we can get this down pat.
Let's discuss it here:
The thread "Defining what habitat view means in terms of photos" in Plant Database forum
