I'm new to the iris forum but I've been lurking and admiring all the iris photos. Today I bought my first two bearded irises from a plant sale. They are noids but one reblooms and has purple flowers and the other has pale purple flowers. I also have a few blue Siberian irises.
Hah!! You say that now, but just wait! The lawn will get smaller and smaller, and the beds larger and larger...And if you grow medians...they take SO little room...You can plant even MORE !!... I remember ALL the excuses( I used them !)....Arlyn
Exactly !! Banish grass! I'm in sand, here, and grass is hard to grow. Unless it's quackgrass! Look at the money you would save on lawn mowers, gas, etc.....Spend the savings on something important....Like iris !!...Arlyn
I'll have to agree with you Arlyn I definitely hate mowing the lawn. Thank you for the welcomes Tom and Polly I already have a plumeria and epiphyllum addiction I really appreciate everyone's friendly welcomes.
Lol they probably won't be my last I'm admiring everyone's pictures and I keep telling myself, I would love to grow that one in my garden. So now I'm making a list of ones to look for later in the year.

Cameron,
Welcome! If you are interested, the AIS convention will be at the Crowne Plaza in Addison starting this Wednesday. You can really get "hooked" on irises with the presentations and 3 full days of bus tours to commercial growers and private gardens, plus get to meet hundreds of irisarians from around the world. I hope to see you there. It can't be more than a 10 mile trip for you. Go to the AIS web site to get the link to the convention web page.
