I haven't had Portulacas in years. I used to do lots of different annuals and have so much color. But not recently. But this year set up many pots and just had to have the Portulacas. They are so easy and so colorful.

I love their bright happy colors and the intense heat doesn't bother them.

Nothing much seems to bother them. Bugs leave them alone.

I bought Portulaca starts at the local nursery and planted them in two pots. So pretty!!!

Who grows these from seed?

I just buy mine. But after you have plants established very easy to get more plants. Simply cut a stem and stick it in the ground. Do nothing. It roots and makes another Portulaca plant.

I made more pots of Portulacas this way last year.

But they also propagate very easy from cuttings.

I have seeds, but no plants yet. No nearby nursery. If they are easy from seed I would like to try them.

I've never seen seeds for that kind before, ornamental purslane (P. umbraticola) but I have bought seeds for moss roses (P. grandiflora) a bunch of times and never got any plants.

I can't wait to see which one it is. I had 2 diff flowers last year and not sure if both were saved. It will either be single yellow flowers or this one:

They are just so pretty!! Go for it.

Mine reseed like crazy. They are not always the same color as the mother plant, but I enjoy the surprises. The variety of colors is amazing.

I do love the fact that the flowers show up in all those amazing colors. Makes it so pretty!!!

Not sure what happened to mine that I rescued. I hope they would re-seed.

I got 2 on clearance last fall. One was still alive until about a week ago when it suddenly shriveled up. The other one is super-stretched but still alive. (knock wood!)

I lost the one with the pink pom-pom in the middle. That was so cool!
