It's been a slow start to anything identifiable as spring here.

First snowdrop (March 17).

Thumb of 2013-04-15/SunnyBorders/7065c0

The snow was finally just about gone and then there was another significant snowfall.
The grackles (provisioned) and then Crocus 'Silver Coral' (April 11).

Today (April 15) things have greatly improved.
We're beginning to get numbers of crocuses (in sunnier spots).
The snowdrops are still around.

Crocus 'Golden Yellow'.

Yes, thank you for the reminders of what spring looks like.
This morning I had two robins on the sidewalk which had been shovelled.
They had made a mess by pulling back the small bits of flower bed that are near the sidewalk.
I don't know if they were getting worms by doing that or they were finding seeds?
Poor things there is not much food available when it snows.

Sunny and warm today.

The ground looks quite thawed out in bright locations.
The robins here are in luck
and seem to have already staked out their territories.

Seeing more crocuses:

Cool and overcast today. The crocus flowers are closed.

Thumb of 2013-04-18/SunnyBorders/5a8f75

But have bulb irises in spots that were sunny yesterday.

Thumb of 2013-04-18/SunnyBorders/c9dd30

And those Chionodoxa 'Giant Pink' are now flowering.
(The Chionodoxa doesn't seem to be as delayed as the large crocuses are.)

Sun came out several hours ago and the crocuses opened up.
That Front North bed already looks better than it did this morning.

Feel as sorry for you, Margaret, as I feel for myself.

I don't think the phrase "Misery loves company" is a thoughtless sentiment,
but I wouldn't wish this on anyone, especially not friends.

52°F/11°C now here.
Very sunny but still a bit nippy.
Was a cold spell, but been sunny and warmer during the last two days.

The crocuses are opening again in sunny location; a few are even finished.
The Chionodoxa 'Giant Pink' is also flowering in sunny locations.

Looking good Charlie. Thumbs up

Yesterday it was nice here, sunny, cool with a breeze and I got a few hours of gardening in. Today on the other hand is not so nice, 47/8 with very light snow flurries/hail, melts when it hits the ground. Thumbs down

Thanks, Margaret.

My first day of gardening here;
digging out stray (surviving) blue Chionodona, Scilla and Puschkinia bulbs.

Have to go to Mrs. L's garden tomorrow to do the same.
She specifically told me she did not like what amounts to random (spotty?) sprinklings of small seeding bulbs.
Once there's enough to provide blocks of colour they'd be invading her lawn which is the responsibility of the lawn maintenance people.
She's big on tulips, which add some lovely colour before I can put in the annuals and before the perennials really get going.

So nice to get gardening!
I'm sorry that you're having a stop-and-go spring.
What we've had here is not usually as marked as it is this year,
but the spring has been so late.

I was at Mrs L's garden two days ago and there was nothing later than crocuses.
Below at her garden, April 23 last year: you can see early tulips that are finished.

Charlie, how cheerful your crocus are! Unlike Mrs.L. I find those random(spotty) bulbs charming. Smiling
