My father-in-law has a beautiful red Japanese maple(at least I think that's what it is) I want to get some clippings and root them but I'm not sure when, what part of plant to cut and proper procedure. Tips? Instructions? Please and thank you.

Let me know how you do. I have a transplanted Japanese Maple from last Fall and she is not doing well at all. In fact, I wonder if she is alive?
