How exciting! No sign of a scape here except on the ones that arrived this spring from FL.

Is Bafin Bay a new one. If my buds come out like that, I break them off on a new plant. They will grow new scapes when the plant gets settle in.

Thanks. I got him at the winter regional, so yeah he's new. I'll take your advice, much as I'd like to see flowers on my DLs. Green Grin!

I always want to see it bloom to make sure I have the correct plant. Some wait until the first bloom and then cut off the scape. We do not cut scapes on new plants. We did not buy it to wait possibly another year to get blooms. Cutting the scapes may be the best for the plant, but we are selfish.

I only take the buds off if it really has no scape to speak of. Sometimes the new ones, for me, send bud right out of the base, I find if I take those off, it will usually send up a regular scape pretty quick. . I never cut of a new real scape, I paid for it, I want to see, and if it stresses the plant so be it.

That is a good idea tho about at lest letting one flower bloom, to make sure you got the right plant. Even if the flower isnt good and a bit deformed coming out the bottom, you would still know.

I also let my new ones bloom, both for identification purposes and just because I'm greedy to see the blooms.

I've always heard to break of those first scapes on new arrivals, but, but, but there is no way that I could do this unless a plant was so punny that I thought it might die.

I still don't have a scape. I'm pretty sure by now that there may be some out there but I haven't been able to find one. Patience, Patience, Patience. Not me, hurry up!!!!

Me too, Debra

I just spent about 2 hours going part of the through Blue J Iris's online catalog. I put nearly $300 into their "cart" and had only gotten to the "CA" listing. I really don't need to be looking at Iris, I'm actually worse about them than I am daylilies. WOW The reason for this, I've been booping over to the Iris Forum and drooling over their posts. Awesome!!! Makes me want and want and want. Ok, nite nite all, Mona
